Established by a cluster of writers, poets and creative-critical thinkers from Manchester Metropolitan University’s Department of English, the Centre for Place Writing provides a platform to discuss, develop and showcase new thinking, writing and other creative outputs with a sustained focus on place.

This digital project officially launched the Centre in 2020 by responding to how the idea of place and its meanings shifted as billions of people went into lockdown across the globe due to the Covid-19 virus. As this ongoing period of the pandemic has continued to affect both people and places around the world, we have launched a new round of submissions PLACE 2021 to capture this extraordinary time.

For further details on the artists and writers involved in PLACE 2020 - 2021 please visit the BIO page. For more information on our planned activities and events please visit the Centre for Place Writing website.
